Travel Log: Legends of the Fall (Day 8)

Previous Day: A Lazy Day at Arashiyama

Destination: Japan
Duration: 8 Days 8 Nights (Nov 27~Dec 05, 2017)

Day 8: Last Day in Kyoto
This was our last day in Japan as we had a 10.20pm flight back to Malaysia. We took our time to pack our stuffs and enjoyed some snacks before checking out and walked to I-Satellite building to store our luggage for free. Since our Kansai-Hiroshima 5 day pass had expired, we needed to purchase train ticket to airport for tonight. We were seriously out of cash thus we went to the station to purchase the ticket 1st to ensure that we knew how much cash we had for the day. Thankfully this time they processed my credit card and had no problem. I guess I got cheated by that guy in Shin-Osaka Station who told me the bank was not recognized which landed us into this out-of-cash situation! UGH!!!
Miniature Temple near Kyoto Station
Kyoto Station with Christmas Tree at the back
After everything was settled, we took a bus to get to Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion) to our half-day Northern Kyoto itinerary (link). We arrived at Kinkakuji at around 12noon+ and thankfully there were not much people due to weekday. Kinkakuji surrounding area was actually smaller than expected – the temple itself was the only star there as it was glittering in the sun.
A Long Ride to Kinkakuji
Finally!!!
Oh my! Is it really GOLD?!
I just have to take a picture of it with reflection on the lake... *obsessed*
More picture of Kinkakuji again since it's the only star.. =P
This is from another side of the Pavilion
Make a Wish!!! Or Aim for the bowl... *facepalm*

Time to Leave...
Life would not be complete without stairs in Japan... =P
The wind was really strong and freezing that day thus we made a stop at a family mart when we were on the way to Ryoanji. We had the deep fried food and they were all yummy! We loved Family Mart!!! =)
Walk Walk Walk again!!!
Chicken Meat Ball at Family Mart
Crispy Deepfried Ham - this is SO GOOD!!!
Nom Nom Nom
Some Oden?
It was already 2.20pm+ when we reached Ryoanji which was famous for its garden. It did wow us with the endless & colorful autumn leaves. In fact, I think all we did was taking pictures of the leaves. Other than that, the lake there was actually kind of undermaintained as we could see lots of rotting leaves in there. Perhaps it was their original intention? =P
Walking again after Family Mart Break...
At Parking Lot of Ryoanji...
Just before the Entrance...
We spend so much time at this tree before the entrance.. LOL...
Because this is simply too breathtaking!!! Look at the color combination!
I think we finally enter Ryoanji entrance.. and still taking pictures with trees non-stop... *facepalm*
The main hall...
Inside the Main Hall
But we still feel the trees are the stars!!!
A funny walkway towards middle of the lake but the lake was "dirty"
Let's stick to the trees!!!
More Trees!!! Traffic light of green, yellow & red!!!!
Yes we are obsessed!!!
More Trees!
And Trees... =P
Even Sammy couldn't resist!!!

Near the Exit
The Lake with lots of fallen leaves..
We continued walking to Ninnaji which had a sea of cherry blossom trees in one of the sections – but it was Autumn so we only saw bare trees. *facepalm* I think we did not visit it completely as there was this announcement on the area closing soon.
When you don't have a car - you walk!!!
Arriving at Ninnaji
Cherry Blossom Tree without cherry blossom!! Wrong Season!
Pagoda
The Hall
Yet another building...
Time to leave...
Another Part of the temple ground...
There was a bus stop right in front of Ninnaji thus we took the bus directly to Kyoto Station. It was a really long ride for almost an hour. The sky was already turning dark by the time we reached Kyoto Station and it was already 5.30pm+. We ended up buying some takeaway sushi from one of the underground floor at Kyoto Station before getting some hot ramen while hubby rushed to get our luggage. Did I mention that it was really freezing that day? *sweat*
At the Gate
Waiting for bus here...
Getting some sushi
At the underground street of Kyoto Station
Getting some ramen in random restaurant since we are running out of time
Don't really like it as it's kind of tasteless... =P
We needed to get on the 6.30pm airport express train so we basically had to run to embark on time. The ride took around 1.5hours to Kansai Airport. There was a long queue at the Air Asia counter even though we had already checked in online and only wanted to drop our luggage.
On the way to Airport
Terminal 1!
Lil one at play land...
Finally we went through immigration and went into this shop to get some Japanese souvenir. In fact, we were just in time to reach our gate for boarding! Miraculously Air Asia actually departed earlier than planned!!! We ordered some soup and M&M for lil one as she seemed to be obsessed with eating M&M on the plane. It was also time to enjoy our takeaway sushi discreetly. =P
Time to get on the plane!!!
Ending our trip...
Lil one drinking the soup...
While we enjoy the sushi!!! *evil grin*
And more sushi!!!
