What's for Lunch? - The Haven Harbour

During Thaipusam holiday when most people hid at home for fear of traffic jam, we put our faith in Google map and headed out for food in town. Thankfully Google map did not fail us and the traffic was smooth all the way! Yay!

Luck was on our side as we managed to find a parking space near Continental bakery. The Haven Harbour was right at the corner of Nagore Road and Chime Heritage. We managed to get ourselves a table downstairs due to our excellent timing since the restaurant was full after a while.

The Haven Harbour provided set lunch with 8 choices of main courses. You may simply add on RM8 for salad/soup and a dessert. Unfortunately this promotion was not available to us due to public holiday.

We ended up ordering Spicy Aglio Olio with Prawns (RM20.90) & Moroccan Baked Egg (RM22.90) as Mains and Creme Brûlée (RM14.90) & Molten Matcha Lava Cake (RM18.90) as desserts. We did not order any drinks this round and simply enjoy their free water.
Which one are you?
The Moroccan Baked Egg was served with fresh garden salad drizzled with balsamic vinegar, sautéed mushroom and buttered bun. The sauce was tomato-base and very appetizing. The only complaint? The bun was too small for the bowl and I kind of hoped the tomato purée could be thicker. =p
Moroccan Baked Egg
The Spicy Aglio Olio was served with 4 big prawns - the prawns were kind of overcooked since the texture was quite hard. The taste of the pasta was okay - I think I still preferred the Aglio Olio from Italiannies (link).

Anyway, we were served the famed Molten Matcha Lava Cake and it was PERFECT! The hot Matcha lava paired with cold vanilla ice cream really was like fire and ice for your taste buds! Definitely a must try!

Look at this!
Our final dessert - Creme Brûlée was hot & crispy on top and cold & soft at the bottom. This contradiction worked perfectly just like the lava cake.

Another best thing about the desserts was they were both not overly sweet at all thus one would not feel too uncomfortable with sugar hangover. Definitely 2 thumbs up on their desserts!!!

Btw, there was no service charge included in their bill. The restaurant was quite full until there was no table for new patrons. We heard from the waiter there saying lunchtime during weekday was usually full but dinner would be less crowded.

The Haven Harbour is located at the corner of Chime Heritage just behind Penang plaza.

Travel Log: The Formosa of Thousand Night Markets (Day 12 & 13)

Destination: Taiwan
Duration: 13 Days 13 Nights (Nov 18~Dec 01, 2015)

Day 12: Taipei -> Singapore

This day was our last day in Taiwan and our flight would be at 5.35pm. Therefore we still had some time to romp around Taipei for half day. We skipped the breakfast spread in hotel and opted to use it for 7-11 instead. There was this famous breakfast stall - Ximending Soya (西门町豆漿) which was located like 100m away from our hotel thus we went and takeaway some foods. We bought their famous soya milk (豆漿), rice milk (米浆), Egg & Ham Baked Biscuit (火腿蛋焼餅) and their famous Pirates Taiwanese Onigiri (海盜全餐飯糰).
Found this! Incredibly excited!
Auntie cooking!
Looks YUMMY huh?
The soya milk was thick and not so sweet even though we did not choose the one without sugar. The rice milk though was really special with peanut taste – kind of similar to a watery version of peanut dessert soup. Egg & Ham Based Biscuit was like normal Egg & Ham sandwiches but with a type of puffy pastry instead. The star here was of course the Pirates Onigiri! The portion was HUGE and it was stuffed full with meat, fried fritters (油條), egg, meat floss and Preserved Turnips (菜圃). The combination of taste and texture was so delish and one might want to skip lunch after this extravaganza breakfast. =P

After breakfast, we did our check out and left our luggage with the hotel to explore around the Ximending area. We followed a map online and found the Red House Theatre (红楼剧场) and the Presidential Office Building before making a turn back to a street full of Cinemas (电影街) and Cinema Park (臺北市電影主題公園) which was basically a park with Graffiti.

Hello Doggie!
Since we were kind of bored and no real destination, we ended up taking the MRT to Longshan Temple (龍山寺) instead. We just made a brief stop there before returning to Ximending area again for some last minute shopping. We also bought this spring onion pancake at Ximending which tasted kind of similar to Roti Canai with egg. LOL!!

We finally bid farewell to Ximending and boarded the MRT to Taipei station for bus to the airport. According to the internet, we were supposed to take Exit Z5 to get to the bus station (國光客運). However, we just couldn’t find the exit and ended up following another bus station sign which pointed us to the wrong station! *facepalm* We ended up having to walk a long way to the correct station on a busy road with a luggage with broken trolley handle. *sweat* Thankfully the people there were really helpful and kept pointed us to the correct direction.
OMG!!! WTF!!!
After the long walk, we finally reached the bus station and boarded our bus to the airport. It was already almost 3.30pm that time since we wasted lots of time to get to the correct station! *curse* Our original plan was to reach airport early and slowly drank our beer from 7-11 before clearing immigration. We ended up having to drink all our drinks on the bus in one go.
Finally the BUS!!!
Beer!
The bus finally reached our terminal at around 4.20pm and it was really quite a rush for us as our flight was at 5.35pm! We had to rush to check in our luggage at the counter before going through the long queue at security checkpoint and immigration. Thank goodness everything went according to plan and we boarded our flight in time! =P
Rushing!!!
Luckily we were just in time!
Our flight!
There was some Christmas decoration on the flight as it was near Christmas season. Dinner was served with the choice of Pan Fried Fish Fillet in Tomato Concasse with buttered vegetable and mashed potato or Roasted Chicken with teriyaki sauce, vegetable and rice.  I liked the fish better but the best part of the dinner was the dessert – Haagen Dazs Ice Cream!!! *grin*
Merry Xmas!

The plane touched down at Changi Terminal 2 at around 10.30pm and we rushed to Terminal 1 after collecting our luggage. Our flight back to Penang was next day with AirAsia thus we went to AirAsia counter trying to do an early luggage check-in so that we could go to the Airside and enjoyed the amenity there. Unfortunately for us, the AirAsia crew at the information counter told us they had closed their luggage check in counter and would only re-opened it at 5.30am the next day! *gasp in horror*

Day 13: Singapore -> Penang

We ended up sitting at the floor of terminal 1 viewing gallery for whole night until 5.30am as there was basically no comfortable place to sleep there. During the whole night, security actually came and took picture of whoever sleeping there on the floor. Hmm… for what purpose? *scratching head* Anyway, since we had lots of time to kill, we took pictures of our 7-11 purchases and ate 7-11 hot spring egg (温泉蛋) as supper.  There was also this free art area for children which we also utilized. =P

We finally did our check-in and got into Changi Airside and took pictures of the newly decorated Christmas tree with Star Wars plush toys! How cute!!! There was also this London theme deco there. We finally found the snooze area at terminal 1 level 2 and snoozed away! I love Changi Airpot!

Our flight was supposed to depart at 11.45am but ended up delayed due to some freak accidental medical leave by AirAsia Pilots (link). Anyway, since we forgot to bring our SGD, we ended up eating our Taiwan 7-11 buns instead. LOL!!! We finally boarded our AirAsia flight and reached Penang late in the afternoon before taking a bus back home. One word of advise? If you are watching your weight – don’t go to Taiwan! It’s a DEATH TRAP! =P
Oh Dear.... My Dilemma Exactly!
