Destination: Teluk Kumbar, Penang
Duration: 2 Days 1 Night (Sep 10~Sep 11,
2016)
Day 1: Of Pool & Food
Lexis Suites Penang is now a permanent
glittering matchbox at the left whenever a plane descends to Penang
International Airport. They were having some opening promotion and we managed
to buy the 2D1N Executive Pool Suites package which included breakfast for
RM350. The main attraction of Lexis was the private pool in each room and that
was what we aimed for as well. =P
We were quite surprised to book our room
only 2 days in advance even though the voucher clearly stated 1 week of
advanced booking is needed. I guess it was not a peak season. Since the hotel
is located in the middle of nowhere and check-in time is at 4pm, we went for
lunch at Queensbay Sakae Sushi before getting our alcohol supplies in Sunshine
to ensure that we were well-stock for the night.

We arrived in Lexis just before 3pm and
surprisingly managed to get our room immediately. By the way, the turn into
indoor carpark was quite challenging so thankfully we had compact car. For a 5
stars hotel, the hotel corridor was unexpectedly bland and looked like a normal
apartment.

Yay! We got our room key! |
However, the magic was all in the room!
2 large beds greeted us once we opened our room door – the room looked slight until
we continued on to open the curtain and door to the bathroom! My oh my!! The bathroom
was exactly the same size as the bedroom!

Wait! We hadn’t even reach our main event
yet! Outside of the bathroom was balcony which housed a PRIVATE POOL and a
steam room! Yuhoo!!!! Our room was not facing the sea directly but it was still
not bad.

After settled down, we went out to
explore the sky bar at the top but frankly speaking it was nothing special. We continued
on to the other facilities at 8th floor such as the public pool,
gym, sauna and karaoke and they were quite underwhelming for a 5 stars hotel.

We ended up back to our room to enjoy
our private pool – unfortunately the sun was shining right at our pool at this
hour so I guess the bathtub would be a much better choice! LOL!!! I didn’t
really like the steam room though as it had a murky smell.
|
Enjoying some Wine as well... |
At around 6pm, we decided to walk out to
explore about the area. We were looking for a shortcut to the beach but there
were no signs in the foyer on that. We ended up had to go out through the main
door which is facing the main road to walk around the building to the beach. “Hao
You” seafood restaurant was just right at the corner but we walked to another direction
for the ‘lover’s bridge’. It was around 10minutes walk and it was a BRIDGE!
LOL!! Nothing special. =P

We managed to get a table at “Hao You” before
the restaurant was completely full and ordered the famous satay, Singapore bihun
(vermicelli), Foo Yoong Egg and salted egg yolk mantis prawn. We were asking
for steamed calamari with sour sauce but they didn't have it that day.

The satay was served without sauce – the
sauce was already applied when it was barbequed. It was kind of spicy and the
meat was really thick for Satay. Definitely a must try! The Singapore bihun &
egg were just meh though. As for salted egg yolk mantis prawn, it was crunchy
and yummy but basically drenched in oil. *facepalm* Definitely a guilty
pleasure!

What else? FOODsss!!! |

Lexis at Night! |
After all the food, it was time to burn
some calories by dipping in our private pool again! One thing I realized was
the bathroom design was a bit strange as it seemed to be flooded whenever we
switched on the shower. Anyhow, it was really a fun filled day and I think I’d
never bathe so many times in one day. Btw, did I mention the TV was nutty? It worked
okay for 1st time and wouldn’t work for 2nd time, we had
to call the reception on that and it was solved by changing another remote
control for us. Strange…

Day 2: Of Pool and Goats
Breakfast in Lexis Suites had quite a
lot of varieties – nothing stood out from the bunch but they were all not bad.
After a short breakfast, we went back to our room for morning swim before check
out. Speaking out strange TV, our TV was not responding again even though it
was working last night with the new remote control. We’d decided to ignore it
and continued with our last swim of the day.

Breakfast!!! |
We checked out just on time at 12noon
and drove to Balik Pulau to try Kim Seng laksa – we ordered 1 asam
laksa and 1 siam laksa. The asam laksa was quite disappointing as it was quite watery.

We had no idea what to do thus we ended
up driving to Saanen Dairy Goat Farm. There were goose and ostrich there too
but the best was still the goat. Visitors were allowed to get vegetation from
the counter FOC to feed the goats and they were so cute!

They also sold goat milk, goat yoghurt

We drove around and had a short stop of

short little vacation. In conclusion? I WANT A POOL!!! =P

|
To have a look from the hill? |
|
