Travel Log: Under the Pale Grey Sky (Day 4)

Destination: Hong Kong & Macao
Duration: 9 Days 8 Night (Nov 24~Dec 02, 2018)

Day 4: A Transit Day to Macao with more Foodsssss

We bought the Ferry ticket to Macao from Klook departing from China Ferry Terminal. The terminal was around 15 mins walk away from Alohas Hostel but we were terribly confused. The terminal did not look like a ‘terminal’ and in fact is located inside a shopping mall (中港城). We kept asking around on the terminal location even though we were right outside that terminal building! We could see a lot of tourists were confused as well. We wasted a lot of time on this.. :(
Looking for the Terminal.... It's actually just inside that 中港城!!!
The security pointed us to walk inside the car park to use the lift to get to the terminal. Once we were inside, we realised that we should’ve just walked into the shopping mall instead like an hour ago which would bring us to the same location. *facepalm* We went to the counter to exchange our Klook voucher to the actual ticket before rushing to the gate for our departure. The Klook return tickets costed around RM413 for 2A1C with 10% off promo code.
Ended up walking into the car park area!!!
To get to the lift to get INSIDE the MALL!!! Seriously!

Getting through immigration immediately...
Our Gate was at the end!!!

Our TurboJet
The ride took around an hour and lil one got seasick and I was feeling uncomfortable even after eating some seasickness pill. We finally stepped off the TurboJet and walked to the bus terminal to get free ride to Hotel Lisboa (It's opposite the terminal). Those hotels with gambling services always have free shuttle to cater the tourists (gamblers) from the pier. After reaching Hotel Lisboa, we took a 15mins walk to Hotel Metropole which was located near Senado Square.
Getting into our Ride...
Seasick!!!
We are almost there!
Free Shuttle!!!
Fancy Hotels!
We finally managed to get to Hotel Metropole without getting lost and we were famished albeit still reeling from seasickness! We quickly googled some recommended restaurants around the area and chose one of the nearest since we had no energy to venture far for a meal.

Free Mineral Water.. LOL!!!
Bathroom
No Bathtub though
Some Toiletries..
We ended up at Chan Kong Kei Restaurant (陳光記飯店) which was famed for their roasted items. The restaurant was quite small and cramped full of patrons. We were stuck at a corner table and ordered the roasted duck rice, BBQ pork & roasted pork rice along with a wonton rice spaghetti. For us the roasted items were just alright whereas the wonton soup was just passable as it had a chemical taste like all the wonton noodle in HK. Lil one seemed to be fond of their BBQ pork though. :p
It's time for a late lunch!!!
Looks Promising!

Rain was pouring after we finished our meal and hb was determined to get to one of the famous bakeries around the corner. We walked through one of the small alley and there was when the smell hit us! The aroma of freshly baked Portuguese tart!!! It seemed like we actually stumbled upon Margaret's Cafe e Nata by accident. People were eating the egg tarts by standing at the alley with their umbrella – that was how alluring the egg tart was! We quickly queued and managed to get 6 piping hot egg tarts for ourselves and we were quite lucky to get a table at the alley to avoid the rain. Each of us wolfed down 2 egg tarts eventhough we just finished our late lunch! Lil one even adamantly pointed out after looking at us finishing 2 egg tarts each whilst she was still on her 1st: “The remaining 1 egg tart is mine! Don’t eat my egg tart!”
Look at the Crowds!!!
Our 1st Portuguese Egg Tart Experience in Macao!
Oh my!!!! This looks amazing!!!
Finishing 6 egg tarts right outside the shop!!!
After much delay, we finally got to our original destination of Elysee bakery – famed for their authentic French pastries. We grabbed some Palmiers & Pain au Chocolat on the go in case lil one wanted some snack later. The rain kept pouring heavily thus we’d decided to get back to the hotel for some R&R.
The Famous Elysee Bakery...
French Pastries anyone?
A lot of Eateries in the Alley which we never had the chance to try...
The seasickness pill earlier seemed to catch up with me and totally knocked me out in the hotel whereas hb & lil one continued their journey at night under the rain to the Ruins of St Paul! They quickly found out that the street was full of eateries and proceeded to buy tons of foodssss back to the hotel! Gosh!!! We had the curry fishball, more wontons & one of the famous pork chop bun from Sing Lei Cha Chaan Teng (勝利茶餐室). Not to mention they bought back another 6pcs of Portuguese egg tart from Koi Kee (鉅記餅家)!!! *facepalm*

Barely anyone there due to the rain...
Care for some Pork Chop Bun?
Koi Kee is EVERYWHERE!!!
No one at Ruins of St Paul!!!

Getting more Foodsssss!!!
My favourite was definitely the curry fish ball from some unknown stall. The pork chop bun was quite dry, super oily & hard to bite whereas the wonton was just passable. The egg tart from Koi Kee was certainly not up to par to Margaret’s!!! Thus this ended our 1st day in Macao where we all fell into a food coma after all the heavy meals. =P
Supper? See how Oily that Pork Chop Bun is!
More Egg Tarts!
Definitely nowhere near as good as Margaret's...
Next Day: A Long Walking Day in Macao
