Travel Log: Legends of the Fall (Day 0)

Destination: Japan
Duration: 8 Days 8 Nights (Nov 27~Dec 05, 2017)

Day 0: AirAsia – Now Everyone can Delay

We had an early day driving to KL as we conveniently forgetting to purchase the promo air tickets from Penang to KL. Since our flight D71 will be departing at 2.15pm, we simply started our journey from Penang at around 7am – just in time to park the car at a friend’s house before taking KLIA transit from Putrajaya central which only costed RM9.40 per pax with 10% discount if purchased from the automated machine.
Save 10% if you buy from machine!
What a deal huh?
On the Train...
The 1st thing that caught my eyes was FAMILY MART in KLIA2! I dashed in to purchase some sandwiches before going through departure fate & immigration. Surprisingly no one stopped us to check our luggage weight at all. Thus the 3 of us simply walked to the gate with 1 backpack, 1 lady’s tote, 1 Samsonite carry-on tote & 2 cabin size luggage.
This is the 1st thing catching her eyes though!
Luggage? No problem! Hmm...
We were all on the plane by 2.15pm and I was so happy that AirAsia finally got it on time…. Until the pilot made an announcement stating there were a technical issue on the backup power of the plane and the engineer needed 1.5 hour to take a look at it. *facepalm* Gosh! My head was full of those plane crash investigation scenario. A more prominent question arises – are we able to make it to the hotel with the last train? Our flight was supposed to reach KIX at 9.40pm thus giving us ample time for commuting… now we are not so sure… UGH!!!!
Even Sammy is bored
Our flight finally took off at around 4pm and we were hoping the pilot would set top speed to catch up lost time. They have a measurement on OTD right (which actually contributes to some plane crash situation)? I pre-book the RM15 lil’ Star Combo meal which was totally worth the money – it consisted of a mini pizza, a box if mini sausages & popcorn chicken, a surprise box with Ribena, raisin & biscuit inside with another drink included. A great deal!
Some Family Mart Sandwich?
More Family Mart Sandwich!
Lil' Star Combo!
All of these only cost RM15 + another drink
The pilot announced that we would be landing at KIX at 10.45pm. By the time the plane was parked nicely at the gate and waiting for those people from hotseat/flatbed to get off, it was already 11pm. Thank goodness we did not check in any luggage and we were the 1st to get off after the VIP since we were in row 16. We planned to get the traveler Simcard but there was no time – the stall was closed and we were too rush to figure out the auto-vending machine. We ran (as if zombie were behind us.. Opps.. wrong country) to the train station and by some miracle managed to buy the ticket at the counter (no queue!) & got on the 2nd last Nankai Limited Express train to Tengachaya Station. We struggled a bit on the auto-ticketing machine at the station but finally got on the LAST train on Sakaisuji line to Kitahama Station. What a day!!!! No thanks to AirAsia! *rolleyes*
Run Forest Run!
Yes we made it on the train!
On the way to Tengachaya
Arrived at Tengachaya but struggling with the automated ticketing machine *facepalm*
Our last train is here!!!
An almost empty train...
See? This is the last train at 00:18... *sweat*
Daiwa Roynet Hotel Osaka-Kitahama would be our hotel for 3 nights in Osaka – it was right beside Kitahama station’s Exit 6. It cost 31,860Yen for 3 nights with booking through booking.com. We followed other hotel guests to walk in as the automated gate was apparently locked and required key card after 12am. We quickly checked in without problem. The room was the typical Japanese hotel room with automated toilet (Yay!), bathtub and a small-ish bedroom. Thankfully the bed is a king-size thus there was no problem for 3 of us to squeeze in.
Finally we are here!!!
Checking in.. Lil one got a free toy from the reception...
Gosh! My hotel room pictures got photobombed!
We were really starving at 1am++ in the middle of the night. What should we do? *cry* Well, this is JAPAN! Which means 7-11 is EVERYWHERE!!! It just happened that the nearest 7-11 was 200m away from our hotel *laughing hysterically*!!! We quickly bought the pre-packed food of bento & soba and ate them in our hotel room before calling it a (late) night. =)
7-11 to the rescue!!!
Stock up!!!
7-11 Pre-pack food!

Next Day: Osaka Castle, Osaka Aquarium & Foods....
