Travel Log: Trapped at Work in Gold Coast (Day 2-4)

Duration: 6 Days 5 Nights (Apr 09~Apr 15, 2016)

Day 2 & 3: Work Hard & Eat Hard
Day 2 & 3 were basically spent in hotel conference room with quick lunch & late dinner. Breakfast in Sofitel was just mediocre but my favourites were the mushrooms & potato cakes. They did have yoghurt & smoothies in exquisite looking glass but it made my stomach clenched since it was too cold & sour for me in the morning.
Good Morning Broadbeach!
Breakfast with lots of Mushrooms
Sammy is still sleeping
Still eating tons of mushrooms on 3rd day
Lunch on the Day 2 was at Room 81 in Sofitel which happened to be one of the top rank fine dining restaurant in Gold Coast. Problem was we were really rushing for schedule and needed to finish the slowly served lunch in less than an hour. LOL!!! Appetizer was either onion soup or some kind of fish thing. The fish was okay but I simply hated onion soup. I got the snapper for my main course and it was nice. Another option of main course was charcoal veal which looked totally like charcoal until my colleague was asking jokingly on whether it was food. Don’t be deceived by the look though, the veal tasted amazing.

Look at the Veal! Yummy!
We kept rushing the restaurant for desserts due to limited timeframe and had to wolf it down as fast as possible. The desserts looked and tasted yummy… the one I got was with avocado & pumpkin cream and it was the YUM. =)

Our organizer booked Day 2 dinner in Misono Japanese Steakhouse restaurant which was located at Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort. It was definitely one of the most FUN dinner I’d ever had in my life. The chef was cooking the Teppanyaki directly in front of a table of patrons with crazy stunts to put on a show during the cooking process. Not to mention the foods were super fresh & nice too. The portion was too humongous though. Oh, the chef also threw shrimp at the patron for them to catch it with mouth! I managed to catch one! *proud*

Lunch on Day 3 was at the 3rd floor of Sofitel (Bistro on 3) which happened to be the same place as our breakfast. The lunch was really below our expectation and I ended up eating more desserts than main courses. =P

Lunch.. Meh..
The only best thing of the lunch - Dessert!!!
Snack & Drink
We had a super late dinner at Rossini’s – an Italian restaurant near our hotel. The cheese baked oyster was to die for. I’m not a fan of raw oyster but I must say the raw oyster here was indeed very fresh. Since it was late, we simply ordered to share.
Very nice light beer

Anyway my trip was extended last minute for extra 2 days as extra hand was needed for the event. Thus I could only fly back on Friday instead.

Day 4: Castaway

After another busy day with mediocre lunch at a hall in Sofitel, we departed the hotel for a team building at McLarens Landing.
Yet another morning at Sofitel

We cruised on the incredible calm channel and thankfully there was no rain. The view was great thanks to the stunning sky with sun shinning out from the cloud. We had some team building activity in the island before having our dinner at the same spot as well.

Team building basically consisted of each team painting a section of a large of a canvas and hoped by some miracle (or teamwork between different team) they all fit nicely together when they are arranged in sequence. Surprisingly our end result looked not bad at all! *thumb up*
Here we go!
Our end result! Look at the 2 headed boy in the middle!!! LOL!!!
The dinner was just passable but yay for free flow alcohol! LOL!!! We finally got back to the cruise on time and got transferred back to Sofitel after a long day.
