Travel Log: The Hunger Games - Hunting Ground (Part 1)

I’ve been going for some short trips to Singapore due to work and was too lazy & too busy to go out for any touristy things during the stay. I think old age finally caught up on me. *sob* However, I think I should blog about it too since I genuinely enjoyed the accommodation and foods there. One sad thing was there was no per diem anymore and everything was supposed to claim by receipt. Well, guess this provided the perfect excuse to eat better food? =P
Sammy says Hi!
So far Silkair or Airasia were taken during the trips depending on the price – the inflight meal of Silkair consisted of chicken puff or chicken sandwiches. So far the chicken sandwiches tasted better than the puff. =P

Oasia Hotel (link) provided the base as hunting ground in Lion City. So far I’ve got the chance to stay in Superior room, deluxe room & club room. Just to note that I only have the chance to stay in Club Room since other lower range room was fully booked that time. Lucky me! =P Guess one must be wondering what is the difference between these rooms – here you go…

Superior Room

Superior Room was the lowest range room in Oasia Hotel. It had the basic amenities such as TV, instant coffee and 2 TWG tea bags. There were no slipper provided though which I loathed. I always love to wear indoor slipper whenever i'm in a hotel. =P

Deluxe Room

Frankly speaking, it appeared to me that Deluxe Room was the bigger of these 3 types of room. It had all the basic amenities such as TV, toiletries, 2 coffee capsules and a refill of 4 TWG tea bags everyday! *wink* There was a rain shower bathroom but no bathtub though and the bathroom did seem to be better decorated than the one in Superior Room. Oh, did I mention they have a weighting scale and they provide slipper too?

Guests in Oasia could access the 8th floor public swimming pool and Jacuzzi area but unfortunately I hadn’t try this.

Breakfast was provided daily at ground floor in Marmalade Pantry for Superior & Deluxe Room Guests. It was quite a spread with international, Chinese & western cuisines. Only after few days that I realised that I should be making smoked salmon sandwiches for breakfast since there was unlimited smoked salmon there everyday! *facepalm* One downside was the restaurant was always full and sometimes difficult to get a table.

Club Room

Club Room was supposed to be higher class than Deluxe Room. However, I noticed that the room was actually smaller than Deluxe Room. Everything is hidden inside the cabinet such as the coffee station. There was a bathtub in the room and they provided Thann toiletries.

One thing that set the amenities apart from Deluxe room was they provided 4 bottles of complimentary vitamin waters in the mini fridge, 3 types of coffee capsules & 8 TWG tea bags everyday! Hooray!
8 TWG teabags!!!
I think this is fancy too?
4 bottles of Vitamin waters!
Another big differentiation? You could access “the Living Room” lounge at 22nd floor which provided free flow of drinks and snacks all day long! Wait, this was not the best yet - the best was there was this complimentary cocktail session from 6pm-8pm where alcohol was totally FREE FLOW!!! They have wine, cocktail and beer – as long as you could consume them, you may order as much as you want. Too bad I only had the chance to stay in this room for one night thus only managed to sample a cocktail and a glass of chardonnay.

For breakfast, club room patrons could choose to dine in Marmalade Pantry at ground floor or at “the Living room” in seclusion. I noticed the spread in the living room was not as much as the one at Marmalade Pantry but they did provided artisan coffee or other drinks such as hot chocolate or steamed milk. The best was there would always be tables available there. =)
