Voucher Food Hunt: Full House

Full House is yet another theme restaurant in Times Square. I’ve been to Full House at 1-Utama and my impression was: nice deco but mediocre food. My view is about to change… 50% of it anyway when I went to Full House Penang.
The Interior - Full House in 1-U actually has a nicer interior

There was a group of people celebrating something at the outdoor session when we arrived there thus we did not go out there. The decoration was nice as we’d expected and we chose Wantan Mee with Teriyaki Chicken and Breaded Chicken Curry Rice for our main course and ordered an additional dessert in Blueberry Cheese Cake.
The Iced Lemon Teas were up first and it was big - Great thirst quencher.
Giant Iced Lemon Tea
The main courses were served next and they were the reason 50% of my view was wrong – they tasted horrible… Hmm.. horrible might be a tad too harsh but the truth was:-

Wantan Mee with Teriyaki Chicken tasted sweet! Really sweet! Did the cook accidentally pour sugar rather than salt? The noodle was not springy as well. I think Maggie noodle tasted springier than that.
Wantan Mee with Teriyaki Chicken
Breaded Chicken Curry Rice was tasteless. There were carrots and potatoes there but they did blend in with the curry taste at all unlike those we ate in Japanese restaurant. Fortunately the chicken at least had some bready and salty flavor.
Breaded Chicken Curry Rice
Luckily the Blueberry cheese cake was nice.

Look at the Blueberry inside!
My verdict is: if you want to go there, just order the dessert alone (a bit pricey though), take some photos and never go back again unless you really want to endure the horrible fusion lunch. You can try other food in the menu but my experience in Full House 1-Utama tells me that it’d be mediocre anyway.

Voucher Food Hunt: Sweet Home Boutique

There are more and more theme restaurants in Penang – Sweet Home Boutique being one of them. I didn’t even know of its existence until I saw this voucher in Jackcow. Great move for introduction to potential customers. =)

[44% OFF] Sweet Home Boutique Cafe - Tea Time Tower Set for 2 person only RM10 PORK FREE (n/p: RM18) @ Penang Times Square
http://www.jackcow.com/deals/sweet_home_boutique_cafe_tea_time_set

The boutique is cute… really cute until I felt a bit over-age to step into it. *blush* I won’t pain you with my limited vocabulary to describe the decoration. Let’s see it yourself with the photos below.
Aaaawwwwww.... Let's Cuddle!
Welcome!
The Bicycle from Fairytale
Flowers
Some Cakes
They only have very limited tables there (I think 3-4 tables) to serve customer. Second floor of the boutique is used to rent to small business seller to sell their products in tubes. Photos are not allowed there though.
Beautiful huh?
Look at the Snails!
Alice in Wonderful?
One thing I realized about the set we bought from Jackcow was: it was not in the menu. This is one of the things I don’t like: Merchants selling items in vouchers claiming in certain prices but the item is not on menu. How do we know whether the price is as the merchant claims? They do have an afternoon tea set in their menu (RM18) but the items in there are different from the one we get from voucher. Anyway, since this voucher only costs RM10 so I forgive them. =)
The Menu
We were served with 2 cups of peach tea before our exquisite tea set. The set looked beautiful and I couldn't help but thinking it was like a version of the Fairytale tea set. There were 3 types of cookies – rose cookies, lavender cookies and I couldn't remember the 3rd one. The French baquette was very crispy and tasty with mushroom & cheese. The cupcakes were topped with creams and common.
Tea... Taste Sweet.

Cupcakes!
If you have some time to kill in the afternoon, perhaps you can swing by this place just for the decoration alone. Make yourself feel younger! Hhaaa…

Voucher Food Hunt: Chicago Ribs House

Chicago Ribs House needs no introduction – it serves one of the best ribs in town. Thus it was quite a surprise when they had this groupon promotion. The funny thing about this groupon was a term “limited vouchers” – so when the voucherolics saw it, we quickly bought it for fear that it would sold out quickly. Thus this came a phone conversation such as:-

Voucherolic #1: Where are you now??? *frantic voice*
Voucherolic #2: I’m at the hospital man!!! *tired voice*
Voucherolic #1: Hospital?! Rough luck man! Anyhoo! There is this voucher!!!
Voucherolic #2: Voucher? You calling me about vouchers?! *shocked*
Voucherolic #1: Yes~~!!! Chicago Ribs House! Half Rack Pork Ribs! Soup! Drink! RM28!!! Interested?
Voucherolic #2: Huh? Okay I will take a look once I leave the hospital… *start to get a bit excited*
Voucherolic #1: It’s LIMITED Voucher…
Voucherolic #2: WHAT?! Help me to buy 2 man!!! Like NOW!!! *Hyper voice*

So this is the life of the hopeless voucherolics… *facepalm*

In one Saturday evening, we strolled into Chicago Rib House (without reservation! *high five*) and claimed our lovely set meal. We chose Mountain Dew and 7-Up for our free flow drinks and soup of the day was potato soup. Yummy!

Finally our pork ribs came…. Served with a mountain of potato chips! The pork ribs were well marinated and the meat was tender. Definitely a must try!

Anyway, Chicago Ribs House also serves other varieties of food other than ribs, their burgers are pretty awesome too as the patty is thick and juicy… here are some of the food photos from our previous visits without vouchers. The Trio Sampler is a must-try too.

Voucher Food Hunt: Natural Fruit Tea & Hot Dog

Have you ever craving for a hotdog especially after a movie set in NY where the characters get hotdog around town? Well, if you happen to be in TGV 1st avenue, you can take the lift to get to the Lower Ground Floor to grab a delicious hotdog at “Natural Fruit Tea & Hot Dog”. Quite a mouthful of stall name if you ask me. The location is behind Roti Boy and quite hidden as well.

[35% Off] A Good Deal from Natural Fruit Tea & Hot Dog, Large(8inch) Hot Dog + Beverage for only RM8.90/ RM16.90 for 2 pax
http://www.ezivoucher.com/previous/natural-fruit-tea---hot-dog1

We decided to take away the meal since it was quite late. We ordered Cheese Hotdog with Chilli Powder and add-on RM1 to get the Seaweed Hotdog. Both are huge and tasty! The hotdog itself tasted similar to 1901 dog but with the combination was great. It would be better to get it hot as the bun was really soft.
The Dogs!
Look at how big it is!
As for the drink, we ordered Passion 2Q Green/Black Tea and Peach 2Q Gren/Black Tea. Unfortunately both were too sweet though – I guess you could ask them to skip the syrup?
The UnNaturally Sweet Tea
Overall, a satisfying HOTDOG meal. =)

Natural Fruit Tea & Hot Dog is located at LG floor of 1st avenue, Penang.

Voucher Food Hunt: Paddington House of Pancakes (Part 2)

This was the second voucher we’ve bought for Paddington House of Pancakes. The first voucher was dessert (Link) and this time we managed to get the full meal (appetizer + main course + dessert + drink).

62% OFF for a 3-Course Meal (Soup + Main + Dessert ) for 2 pax @ Paddington House of Pancakes for only RM39 instead of RM103.80!
http://www.mydeal.com.my/deals/kuala-lumpur/RM39-for-3-course-meal-at-Paddington-House-of-Pancakes

This voucher enabled you to order 2 appetizers, 2 main courses and a dessert for sharing.
In order to sample more of the menu, we order:-
- 1 soup of the day, 1 mixed fruit salad for appetizer
- Stuffed grilled chicken with ham, cheese and prawns served with mash potato pancakes and Grilled Dory fillet with fettuccine aglio olio pasta & cream sauce for main course
- Treasure Box served with mini dollar-sized pancakes with mixed fruits & ice cream
and Tropical Fruit Punch for our drink.

Cozy Couch!
The tomato soup was thick and hot – good for a cold day to warm you up. The mixed fruit salad was hmm… mixed fruit with pineapple, orange and green apple – a bit citrus before the meal?

The chicken main course tasted plain – nothing special there. I did like the aglio olio pasta on the fish set though. Overall - satisfactory but nothing spectacular here.

The main event finally arrived when our dessert was served! I loved Paddington’s dessert! This was the best dishes out of the whole set. It was a big bowl full of mini pancakes, mixed fruits (banana, peach, strawberries) and ice cream! We loved this! Yummy!!!
Dessert Time!
By the way, we visited the restaurant on a Sunday dinner and the restaurant was barely filled. The few tables that were filled were having same stuffs like we did – voucher hunters! Kind of wonder how the restaurant can survived on this kind of situation.

Paddington House of Pancakes is available in Gurney Plaza and Queensbay Mall in Penang.

Voucher Food Hunt: Chez Weng

Precinct 10 has become one of the hippest places in Penang for Food and Beverages. One of the stands out is Chez Weng – opened by the owner of Cassis with a more casual dining experience than their first restaurant.

Since we’ve tried Cassis and was impressed by their food (Link), we quickly bought this myooo voucher when we get to  know that they have the same owner.

[55% OFF] RM18 For 12” Gourmet Pizza (instead of RM40.60) at Chez Weng, Precinct 10, Penang
http://myooo.my/deal/55-rm18-12%E2%80%9D-gourmet-pizza-instead-rm4060-chez-weng-precinct-10-penang-5-choices-available

On a fine Sunday evening, we casually strolled in Chez Weng to claim our voucher since no reservation was required. We were served with special bread with oil and vinegar and also ice or warm water. The restaurant was spacey and decorated tastefully – very earthly and nostalgic feel there.
The Interior
Bread with Oil and Vinegar
We were a bit worried that we might not be able to finish two 12inches but from our experience, gourmet pizza normally was served with very thin crust. Thus we go ahead with our orders of 2 pizzas. There were 5 choices of pizzas in the menu and we chose:-
-          Portabella Mushroom, Garlic Confit & Truffle Oil Pizza
-          Seafood, Spinach & Olive Oil Pizza

The Portabella mushroom pizza was served first and thankfully it was indeed thin crust! The crust is very thin and crispy. The most prominent taste of the pizza is the parmesan cheese taste which overwhelmed the mushroom. Anyway if you are a cheese lover, you would like this.

The seafood pizza was served next and our first impression was a pizza with a few spinach leaves on top. To our great surprise, hidden underneath the spinach were a few big and juicy prawns and bit and pieces of squid and scallop! Oh mine, this was heaven! This pizza has more of a tomato paste base – a slight difference from the mushroom pizza.
A Pizza with Leaves...
What is Hiding underneath?
Prawn!!!
A slight flaw about both pizzas was that both tasted a tad too salty to me. Go easy on the salt next time please. The service was great though – the waiter kept refilling our water non-stop as well. Another funny trivia was their menu is made of plain A4 paper and stapled like some document. Strange huh?

Chez Weng is located at Precinct 10, Tanjung Tokong, Penang – next to Island plaza.
