Voucher Food Hunt: Full House

Full House is yet another theme restaurant in Times Square. I’ve been to Full House at 1-Utama and my impression was: nice deco but mediocre food. My view is about to change… 50% of it anyway when I went to Full House Penang.

There was a group of people celebrating something at the outdoor session when we arrived there thus we did not go out there. The decoration was nice as we’d expected and we chose Wantan Mee with Teriyaki Chicken and Breaded Chicken Curry Rice for our main course and ordered an additional dessert in Blueberry Cheese Cake.
The Iced Lemon Teas were up first and it was big - Great thirst quencher.

The main courses were served next and they were the reason 50% of my view was wrong – they tasted horrible… Hmm.. horrible might be a tad too harsh but the truth was:-

Wantan Mee with Teriyaki Chicken tasted sweet! Really sweet! Did the cook accidentally pour sugar rather than salt? The noodle was not springy as well. I think Maggie noodle tasted springier than that.

Breaded Chicken Curry Rice was tasteless. There were carrots and potatoes there but they did blend in with the curry taste at all unlike those we ate in Japanese restaurant. Fortunately the chicken at least had some bready and salty flavor.

My verdict is: if you want to go there, just order the dessert alone (a bit pricey though), take some photos and never go back again unless you really want to endure the horrible fusion lunch. You can try other food in the menu but my experience in Full House 1-Utama tells me that it’d be mediocre anyway.

Voucher Food Hunt: Sweet Home Boutique

There are more and more theme restaurants in Penang – Sweet Home Boutique being one of them. I didn’t even know of its existence until I saw this voucher in Jackcow. Great move for introduction to potential customers. =)

The boutique is cute… really cute until I felt a bit over-age to step into it. *blush* I won’t pain you with my limited vocabulary to describe the decoration. Let’s see it yourself with the photos below.

 They only have very limited tables there (I think 3-4 tables) to serve customer. Second floor of the boutique is used to rent to small business seller to sell their products in tubes. Photos are not allowed there though.

One thing I realized about the set we bought from Jackcow was: it was not in the menu. This is one of the things I don’t like: Merchants selling items in vouchers claiming in certain prices but the item is not on menu. How do we know whether the price is as the merchant claims? They do have an afternoon tea set in their menu (RM18) but the items in there are different from the one we get from voucher. Anyway, since this voucher only costs RM10 so I forgive them. =)

We were served with 2 cups of peach tea before our exquisite tea set. The set looked beautiful and I couldn't help but thinking it was like a version of the Fairytale tea set. There were 3 types of cookies – rose cookies, lavender cookies and I couldn't remember the 3^rd one. The French baquette was very crispy and tasty with mushroom & cheese. The cupcakes were topped with creams and common.

Voucher Food Hunt: Chicago Ribs House

Chicago Ribs House needs no introduction – it serves one of the best ribs in town. Thus it was quite a surprise when they had this groupon promotion. The funny thing about this groupon was a term “limited vouchers” – so when the voucherolics saw it, we quickly bought it for fear that it would sold out quickly. Thus this came a phone conversation such as:-

Voucherolic #1: Where are you now??? *frantic voice*
Voucherolic #2: I’m at the hospital man!!! *tired voice*
Voucherolic #1: Hospital?! Rough luck man! Anyhoo! There is this voucher!!!

In one Saturday evening, we strolled into Chicago Rib House (without reservation! *high five*) and claimed our lovely set meal. We chose Mountain Dew and 7-Up for our free flow drinks and soup of the day was potato soup. Yummy!

Finally our pork ribs came…. Served with a mountain of potato chips! The pork ribs were well marinated and the meat was tender. Definitely a must try!

Anyway, Chicago Ribs House also serves other varieties of food other than ribs, their burgers are pretty awesome too as the patty is thick and juicy… here are some of the food photos from our previous visits without vouchers. The Trio Sampler is a must-try too.

Voucher Food Hunt: Natural Fruit Tea & Hot Dog

Have you ever craving for a hotdog especially after a movie set in NY where the characters get hotdog around town? Well, if you happen to be in TGV 1^st avenue, you can take the lift to get to the Lower Ground Floor to grab a delicious hotdog at “Natural Fruit Tea & Hot Dog”. Quite a mouthful of stall name if you ask me. The location is behind Roti Boy and quite hidden as well.

We decided to take away the meal since it was quite late. We ordered Cheese Hotdog with Chilli Powder and add-on RM1 to get the Seaweed Hotdog. Both are huge and tasty! The hotdog itself tasted similar to 1901 dog but with the combination was great. It would be better to get it hot as the bun was really soft.

As for the drink, we ordered Passion 2Q Green/Black Tea and Peach 2Q Gren/Black Tea. Unfortunately both were too sweet though – I guess you could ask them to skip the syrup?
