Day 12: The Amazing Amalfi Coast Road Trip

Today was the 2nd day in a row in which we engaged day tour. Our tour day is the ‘Full day Amalfi Coast Road Trip” from getyourguide.com (link). We had to be at the meeting point at 7.50am thus we had a brief breakfast in Hotel Nice before heading out.
Simple Breakfast at Hotel Nice
Juices and Biscuits?
Let's just have some Croissant & Nutella
There were a lot of people & buses at the meeting point but thankfully we quickly found our guide and got on the bus and managed to sit at the right side of the bus. For those travel buffs out there, if you ever go for Amalfi road trip – always sit at the right side! It got the best view ever!!!
Beginning of our Amalfi Drive - the Islands of the Sirens
Beautiful Beautiful Landscape
Tiny Beach at the bottom - you will have to hike down there
Our tour guide gave us some introduction on the Amalfi Coastal Road which is one of the most scenic coastal drives in Europe. We would drive along the Amalfi Coast and have photograph stop at Positano before stopping at Amalfi and Revello.  The road was extremely narrow in some bends which really required an expert driver.
See the road along the Cliff?
Scary huh?
The hole on top of Amalfi in which Virgin Mary created
The view was simply breathtaking! This was basically one of my Top 3 favourites in this trip! Words simply failed to describe how amazing this is and our camera did not do this justice as well! Gosh! Our only regret was we did not stop at Positano to admire the town. Basically the bus stopped halfway in the road to let us take some pictures only. How I wished to have at least a day to explore Positano – which reminded me of larger scale of Cinque Terre (link & link) & a more colorful version of Oia in Santorini (link & link). Just like Cinque Terre & Santorini, the residents here have to climb tons of winding stairs everyday to reach their destination. Let’s imagine you stay in Positano, you have to take 200 stairs to reach your car, but then you realized that you forgot your car key (ouch!!!), then you will have to go up 200 stairs to get the key and another 200 steps to get back to the car again! A total of 600 steps just to get to your car. LOL!!!

We did stop at a tourist trap souvenir shop at the drive before making a 2 hours stop at Amalfi. Since the weather was good, we had the Guided boat ride along the coast. The view was spectacular but the sea was really rough for some reason. *fainted*

Goodbye Rough Sea
After the boat ride, we had an hour of free time in Amalfi where we visited the magnificent 9th Century cathedral and wandered the narrow meandering streets. There was a wedding in the cathedral that day and the bride actually had to climb up all the stairs in high heel to the cathedral with all the tourists looking and clapping… What a wedding!
In front at the Amalfi Cathedral - look at the STAIRsss!!!!
This is a Fountain!!!
Beautiful Cathedral... Apparently it's a hotspot for wedding...

Our bus then continued to Ravello. We went to visit the Villa Rufolo to get some ‘postcard view’ picture of Amalfi before going to the main square with the bright picturesque 11th century cathedral.  Unfortunately our time was short thus we had to rush back to the bus which was parked at a distance.

Leaving Too Soon.. =(
Our bus was supposed to pass over hills to Castellammare for the highway but apparently a storm destroyed some part of the road thus our driver had no choice but to drive till Salerno to reach the highway – this means more scenic routes for us! *happy* By the way, the tourist bus was supposed to go only 1-way thus the driver could not turn back to Sorrento by using the same route.

More Towns on the Way
I Forgot the Name since this was not in our Itinerary
Quiant little Town
We only arrived at Sorrento after 6.30pm since we took the long route. We simply walked around Sorrento and stumbled upon a garden which looked out to Marina San Francesco for sunset.

Can't really see it though due to the Cloud
This is all we have..
After that we went back to Da Emilia at Marina Grande for dinner again. This time we ordered the grilled calamari and Ravioli with tomato sauce. Just like last night, we ate all the tomato sauce as it was simply too divine! Comparing today’s meal with last night’s, we actually preferred the dishes last night as the grilled calamari was not as nice as our meal in Mykonos (link) whereas the ravioli was a bit too thick. Thus our allegiance remained at their gnocchi and seafood platter. Our pickup would come to fetch us to Napoli airport at 4am in the morning for our flight to Venice so we rested early to prepare for another adventure in Venice.
Cute little Doggie!!!
