Travel Log: A Walk in Georgetown Heritage Site

Destination: Georgetown Heritage Site, Malaysia
Duration: Half Day (Apr 26, 2015)

This is definitely a LONG overdue post as this happened back in April. Anyway, the Heritage Charity Walk was organized by D’Monte – our lil one’s kindergarten so we signed up to:-
- Burn extra calories since it’s a WALK - mind you, we participate in WALK once in a blue moon only, most of the WALK we registered in never resulted in fruition and we always missed it. =P
- Explore Penang Heritage Site – as Penangite, I’m ashamed to say that we’d never really explore our beloved heritage site, we never even took any pictures of those famous street arts
The Long Walk!
Thus in the morning of April 26, we actually managed to wake up on time to get our butts to Esplanade for the walk! What a feat! =P However, we quickly realized we forgot to bring umbrella to shade ourselves from the sun – must to our horror. *facepalm* There was some morning exercise function on stage just beside the town hall which had TOO LOUD speakers so we ended up at Esplanade seaside to avoid the high noise level.

Finally the Charity Walk started on time and off we went! There were a total of 9 major stops where we could get stamp on our little card. Our 1st stop was St George’s Church and we reached it in no time. The next stop – Penang State Museum was not far away either. So was the 3rd stop – Cathedral of Assumption.
Opps... This this St George Church but Apparently our camera sucks! Or perhaps user issue? =P

Cathedral of Assumption with our BIG faces in front...
The 4th stop was a bit further away - Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion (Blue Mansion) but we made it! The route got more & more interesting as there were more street arts along the way. Funnily enough, our 5th stop - Banggali Mosque was never on our path since we turned to another corner before that.
Arriving in front of Blue Mansion but didn't even take a picture of the Blue Building! *facepalm*
Now it gets more interesting with the street art!
Am i seeing Double?
Then we reached Hainan Temple (6th stop) before walking pass more street arts. I have no ideas what they are called but I guess some of them are quite famous? The Goddess of Mercy temple was next before we crossed the road to continue on to Kapitan Keling Mosque.

Thankfully the sun was not too strong and most of the path had covers thus we did not ended up roasted. The Lucky Draw was the last function but unfortunately we did not win anything… *pout* Anyway it was a fun walk and it gave us the chance to finally explore the heritage site. =)
