What’s for Lunch? – Queensbay Edition (the Fast & Furious)

Queensbay is a popular lunch location especially for factory “slave” like us in Bayan Lepas. Sometimes we are not even sure whether food or shopping is more important in the short one hour lunch break! I could give up shopping but i'm not a quitter! LOL!!! So i have tons to buy but still want to enjoy some nice food, where should I go? Other than the obvious fast food (McD & KFC) and Jusco lower ground food section, here are some tips to spice up your quick lunch!
Some Choices at Jusco Lower Ground Food Section
Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks
Located in lower ground floor, this is a popular place for XXL Crispy Chicken. Another popular choice would be their oyster mee sua – low in calories, super delicious and ensure satisfaction to your tummy. You will sigh in contentment after finishing this hot bowl of mee sua.

If you are a rice person, you might try their set rice with crispy chicken & beancurd which comes with a bottle of v-soy! Occasionally there are some seasonal menu which offers squid ink tempura or ‘lu lou fan’ (minced pork rice) too!

Deep Fried Sweet Potato
Kumamono Bear Paw Bun
Located near to Shihlin, this little stall is selling super cute burger in fluffy bear shape bun (milk, brown sugar or wholewheat). We always call this “PAW PAW” whenever we think about this. The bun is straight from steamer and it is really soft and fluffy – I like the milk flavor the most.  =)
Kuma's Chicken with Milk Bun
The price is based on the meat you choose – normal chicken, crispy chicken or fish and you may choose the sauce too (Tartar sauce, sesame sauce, cheese sauce or black pepper sauce). One can also top up to make this a set which includes a set dish (Curry fish ball or Wedges) and a drink. They even serve mini paw now for small eater!

Habanero
Habanero is a Mexican fast food concept restaurant serving burrito and taco with same concept as Taco Bell in the US. You may choose burrito or taco and pick your own filling (rice, salsas, vegetables, meat and most importantly the spicy level), the waiter will wraps everything into the burrito with tin foil. You can even make it a meal with nachos and drink. The burrito size is extremely big though and if rice is included in the mix, weight watchers might want to share 1 burrito to SHARE THE FAT!
The Burrito Set
It's a BIG burrito!
This is Chicken..
Personally I love their taco with beef better than burrito even though the FAT level is still high. If you want to skip the burrito/taco calories, you may even skip it and make it a salad meal. =)

Queens Hall Food Court
This self-service food court has nice food but with slightly higher price tag for a food court in Penang. it’s newly renovated and has gazillion of choices – as long as you are not caught in a long queue, the lunch will be quick and nice. Some of our favourites are the porridge set from “I Love Yoo!” and the beef noodle from Sukhothai (queue might be long).
I Love Yoo!!!
Beef Noodles
The chili pan mee there is super popular and until now we did not have a chance to try as the queue is simply scary! Sometimes we will just buy some light bites (chicken pie, curry puff or tuna puff) from Mak Ee instead.
Mak Ee!
Tuna & Curry Puff
Love a Loaf is there too so this might be your last resort for a quick lunch or just buy it for next day’s breakfast. =)
Love a Loaf - Hmm.. many loafs!
Last but not least, if you are craving for Coffee Bean Matcha Ice Blended and watching your calories intake but want to spend most of your lunchtime shopping? Well, here is a suggestion - not a perfect one but who cares? LOL! Buy a salad bowl (the one with balsamic dressing , NOT the thousand island dressing!!!) from Jusco and eat it as lunch and drink your Matcha ice blended! *wink*
The Dieter's Lunch with a totally FAT drink!
Queensbay is located in Bayan Lepas, Penang.
