Valentine’s Day: Cold & Hot in Miraku

After I posted the Miraku Lunch Buffet (link), only that I’d realized that I’d never posted the prelude! I posted White Valentine but not the Worldwide Valentine’s day which happened to be 1 month before White Valentine? *facepalm* Funnily enough, both occasion was celebrated in the same restaurant – Miraku Japanese Restaurant in G-Hotel. I guess someone had a fetish during this period.

Funny thing was we actually went for the dinner and accidentally saw the Buffet Lunch brochure. Anyhow, since the dinner set looked huge enough to feed 2, we just ordered 1 set dinner & 1 salmon kaminabe (paper steamboat). Sweet & Sour Salmon was served as free appetizer and it was really nice!

The Tea Cup
Appetizer - Salmon (sweet & nice!)
We were served the salmon kaminabe 1st and there were salmon, beancurd, different types of mushroom & vegetables inside. The soup was really flavorful until we finished the whole pot. We quickly took down the paper from the ‘stove’ to avoid the paper getting burned since there were no liquid inside anymore. When the waiter cleared the table, he put the paper back on top of the ‘stove’ and it really got burned! *facepalm* So for food experts out there, are we not allowed to drink up all the soup on kaminabe to avoid a fire? *embarrassed*

Look at the Salmon!!!
Our huge dinner set was served later. Here are the photos! As you can see, one photo can’t even cover it all – 2 photos are required. The set consisted of:
Cold Portion
Varieties of sushi, salad, a bowl with radish & yam ball, salmon sashimi
Hot Portion
Cawanmushi, miso soup, tempura & a piece of saba
Dessert
Watermelon & Green Tea ice cream.
Long list eh? We were beyond stuffed by the time we finish the food. *burp*

2nd Picture for another half!
Green Tea Ice Cream
The food quality was definitely top notch but I would say go for the buffet lunch to try more varieties of foods. Besides, you can eat all the salmon sashimi you want during the buffet rather than the miserable 2-3pcs in the set dinner. Cheapskate here! *wave*

Miraku Japanese Restaurant is located in G-Hotel, Gurney Drive in Penang.
