Day 3: Underwater World & Home
We woke up at around 8.30am this time
for breakfast today so that we will have some time for the pool before checked
out. This time we really walked around the breakfast pool area and found that
there were really lots of choices outdoor. There were Nasi Lemak, Roti Pratha,
Tomyam Koay Teow, Porridges and other local pastries at the other sides. I particularly
liked the roti pratha with the savoury curry available there. However, there
were some hygiene issue as the food outdoor had flies
hovered over them.

After breakfast, we proceeded for last
minute swimming in the pool before checking out at the last minute of 12noon. After
checked out, we had no idea what to do as we did not plan anything. *facepalm*
We bumped into a taxi at the lobby and asked the driver on whether it was
possible to go for cable car and got to airport by 4.30pm. The driver was very
honest and told us we wouldn’t make it as there would be long queue since it
was Sunday.

We ended up storing our luggage at the
hotel and walked to Cenang area again. *sigh* Since we had around 3hours++ to
kill and Underwater world was just right in front of us, we simple walked in
and purchased the tickets. Frankly speaking, the place was really a
disappointment and there were not much to see at all. Definitely not worth the
money of the entrance ticket. There were other activities such as mirror maze
and some disaster simulation which were charged separately! *rolleyes* What a
tourist trap!

Giant Penguin? |
|
Hmm... not sure what fish that is! |
We stayed back to watch feeding session
– there was a simple performance from sea lions which was okay but the feeding
session for penguin was plain boring. Not to mention that the narrative was all
in Malay – I didn’t think any foreigners would understand that!
By the time we left the place, it was
too late for us to have a decent meal in a restaurant. We ended up buying
Shawarma from a Turkish restaurant right opposite Aseania Resort to eat in
hotel lobby. It cost RM15 and it was really BAD! The meat was really meagre and
the wrap felt empty. The Shawarma from Penang Gurney Paragon Food Loft was so
much better (link)!

One can hardly see any meat.. |
The Langkawi airport was quite small and
we managed to go through custom without issue. Funny thing was I didn’t think
they really checked on alcohol at all – we brought along 2 bottles of Moet and
1 bottle of Hoegaarden in our luggage and they didn’t ask us to open the
luggage for further checking. UGH! We should’ve bought more!!! Our flight was
on time miraculously but we encountered some turbulence which was quite scary.
Anyway it was a short flight so we landed in Penang Airport in no time! Time to
get a bus to get home! =)
