Day 2 & 3: Meeting, Meeting & Meeting
Boss was such a funny guy – sneaked me into his hotel
breakfast spread since my hotel package didn’t include breakfast. Apparently
the Hotel didn’t check who was going in for breakfast as long as you have the
key card to open the breakfast hall door. SSSShhhhhhhh………. The spread is
typical American + Japanese breakfast which I didn’t take any picture since I
felt embarrassed enough to sneak in. Hahha…
Office was 10 minutes walk from Shin-Yokohama station and
we spent the days there meeting, meeting & meeting. Gosh, when will this
ever end? If you think business travel is glamorous – think again! We went out
to have a short lunch in nearby restaurant on the 1st day but 2nd
day was simply too busy until we only managed to grab some sandwich from 7-11
just downstairs of the office building. Well, good experience huh? Japanese are
workaholic as well! Left the office at 7.30pm and more than half of them were
still in the office!
Boss & ex-boss (who is a consultant now) wanted to
grab McD & Pizza for dinner in the 2 days so I politely declined and went
to buy Japanese Bento from nearby stall and ate in hotel instead… I mean who
want to eat McD & Pizza when in Japan right? I LOVE JAPANESE BENTO!!! They
are just so beautifully made and tasty! I also managed to find a restaurant (Yoshinoya) which I suspected is a chain restaurant in Japan which served cheap & big
rice set. The restaurant was always busy and people ate very fast and usually
alone.

Our last meeting ended around 1pm++ as boss & ex-boss
needed to rush to the airport for their flights back to US. Grabbed a sandwich
after saying farewell to them and went back to the hotel to settle some open
items before taking a train to celebrate Friday night in Japan! LOL!
The main purpose of going to Shinjuku was basically
getting the Hakone Free Pass in the station as boss agreed to let me take a
later flight rather than the morning flight on Saturday to come back to
Malaysia. This is definitely a good way to fully utilize free air tickets and
free hotels during business travel – just TAKE A LATER FLIGHT if your original
flight was a morning one. You don’t even need to pay extra for hotel!
Here is the route given by Hyperdia from Shin-Yokohama to
Shinjuku.
Shin-Yokohama Station (JR Yokohama Line Local) ->
Kikuna (Tokyu Toyoko/Minatomirai Line) -> Shibuya (Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin
Line) -> Shinjuku-Sanchome (Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line) -> Shinjuku
Successfully bought the tickets but it was raining and
too late to go to the Shinjuku Gyoen National Park, failed to find the famous
Shinjuku shot either! UGH!!! Walked the underground walkway to the Tokyo
Metropolitan Government Building to their free observation deck but the
cloud/fog was too thick to see anything outside the building! Talk about a BAD
DAY!!!!

Continue the journey to Shibuya (Shinjuku Station (JR Yamanote Inner Loop) -> Shibuya) with the
mission of taking a photo of the Hachiko Statue – a loyal dog who waited for
his master everyday in front of Shibuya Station even until years after his
master had passed away… *sob*
