50th Anniversary = 50% Discount @ Italiannies!!!

What is the best way to wake up a half asleep colleague on a boring working day? If it happened to be Nov 21, 2012, just tell him/her that Italiannies is having 50% discount on all food items! Not only Italiannies but TGIF and whichever companies under Chaswood Group. Apparently they are celebrating their 50th anniversary by giving out 50% discount on 1 day only.

We strolled into Italiannies Gurney at around 7pm and amazingly we didn’t even have to wait. The waiter showed us to an empty table and told us they were having 50% discount like we didn’t purposely rush here due to the same reason. =p

Their stuffed mushroom was sold out again so we ordered Toasted Bruschetta (RM17.90) as appetizer, Regular Lasagna A La Ravina (RM32.90) and a Piccolo Classic Carbonara (RM24.90) as main courses.

They didn’t serve us the typical bread, olive oil & vinegar combo though – perhaps they were too busy or we already ordered Bruschetta or maybe because we were paying half price! Hehhee… Strangely enough, Lasagna was the 1st dish to be served followed by Carbonara. Bruschetta was actually served at last.. Hmm.. I thought Bruschetta is a starter?

Our eyes nearly popped out when we saw the Lasagna – it was served in a pot and it was HUGE! The portion could easily feed two people and we felt full even when we were halfway through it. *facepalm* It was full of beef, tomato and cheese and it was just so yummy!!! It was a bit dry on the edge but still oh so sinfully scrumptious!!! GOSH!!!!

Thankfully we only ordered Piccolo size of the Carbonara as we were already stuffed with the Lasagna. Anyway, the Carbonara was fejwkfhelgfrelgslkejwfnsanflsfnd… Oops.. sorry for the gibberish but my mouth was full with all the fettucine.. It wasn’t quite creamy but the combination of cheese, egg, bacon & whatever herbs they put it just made me died and went to heaven… *sigh*
Classic Carbonara!
The Starter – Bruschetta was served at last *roll eyes* and there were 4 big pieces of bruschetta with additional toppings in the middle. The bread was soft rather than too crispy but it blended well with the sourly topping. However, I must say it was just normal and I wouldn’t fork out RM17.90 original price just for this.
Bruschetta!

We were beyond full until our pants were going to burst. Let’s hope Chaswood Group will have 51% promotion next year for their 51th anniversary!

Italiannies is located in Gurney Paragon, Penang.
